Winches
Port Townsend. I like the metallic silver-blue color of the winch, contrasted with the orange varnish of the wood. Details of boaty stuff.
Winch
Port Townsend. This metallic winch with a bronze tint matches the orange wood varnish, and contrast with the blue/green stripe. More boaty details.
Wood Duck
Port Townsend, Wash. Reflections at sunset.
Ferry at Dawn
Port Townsend. Washington State Ferry at dawn. The ferry runs regularly between Port Townsend and Whidbey Island.
Foggy Morning
Port Townsend. The old ferry pilings in the early morning mist.
Liberty
No one is free until all are free. Schooner Suva at sunset. I added a wood grain vignette to give the feel of the Age of Sail.
Whidbey Island Sunset
Coupeville Wharf. This evening after sunset the sky blew up with orange, red, and purple colors. I almost gave up too early.
Evening Calm
Coupeville, Whidbey Island, Wash. A small boat after sunset, with glassy smooth water.
Whidbey Sunrise
Coupeville, Washington. Mt Baker and reflections, and golden light. I used my long lens at 200mm to capture the detail on the mountains and the sailboats. I think this image works best with the boats slightly offset with the dark reflections of Mt Baker.
Seagulls at Sunrise
Coupeville, Whidbey Island, Washington. I was trying to catch a star burst when the sun broke above the horizon, and was lucky to get the birds in flight.
Schooner Suva at Sunrise
Coupeville, Whidbey Island, Washington. A monochrome edit, with wood grain vignette. Recalls the Age of Sail.
Sailing Ships at Sunrise.
Whidbey Island, Washington. The colors were brilliant on this morning, and the water was calm and gave beautiful reflections.
Waterfront Reflctions
Coupeville, Whidbey Island, Washington. The old buildings on the waterfront are charming.
Whidbey Dawn
Coupeville, Whibey Island, Washington. Reflections at sunrise.
We're going to need a Bigger Boat
Anacortes, Washington. I usually prefer fishing boats or tugboats to photography, but this guy was large and imposing. Also the reflections were promising.
Converted Cruiser
Anacortes, Washington. This old fishing boat has been converted to a cruiser. I think the poles and masts are no longer used, but still catch my eye.
Fishing Boat Bridge
Anacortes, Washington. Sometimes details of a boat are as interesting as the whole. It takes experience and electronics to fish at night and know where you are.
Crab Traps
Anacortes, Washington. I love the colors of these pots, so neatly arranged. These boats are quite small.
Rubber Bumpers
Anacortes, Washington. This tug boat is well protected from banging against large ships in rough weather. I need a boat I can get dirty.
Tugboat Bridge
Anacortes, Washington. I love the character of these working boats.
Fishing Boat
Anacortes, Washington. Rugged good looks. I enjoy walking the docks in the quiet mornings and finding interesting boats.
